Balancing the doshas can be achieved by measures that are opposite to the
disturbing influences. Vata for example is balanced by rest, regularity and
warmth. Especially recommended are warm oil massages.
Pitta is controlled through cooling and calming; avoid hot spices and alcohol.
Kapha requires warmth, hot spices as well as physical activity (exercise)
and stimulation for balance.
To balance the doshas on a permanent basis, Ayurveda
recommends healthy, individually adjusted nutrition, a regular daily routine,
specific food supplements, Panchakarma, aroma and music therapy, physical
and breathing exercises and the practise of meditation, a
simple mental technique to develop the full potential of mind and body.
Ayurveda describes three basic principles (doshas) which can be found everywhere in nature, including our mind and body. For normal and healthy functioning of our physiology and for a settled and alert mind, balance of the three doshas is necessary.
Many factors influence the doshas - e.g. our daily routine or the seasons - litterally all the influences that we face day by day.
